A condition in which continuous exposure to stomach acid causes the cells of the esophagus to undergo changes, Barrett’s esophagus can cause various GI problems including esophageal cancer. For people with GERD, and those suffering from persistent heartburn and other GI symptoms, undergoing regular screening is the best way to guard against cancer and other conditions. However, it’s important to remember that tests and treatments for Barrett’s are only as good as the doctors performing them.

The board-certified GI specialists at La Peer’s Barrett’s Esophagus Center of Excellence possess expert training from the premier medical schools in the country. Further, their work has been featured in national media such as Discovery Health, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Doctors, The New York Times, People, Entertainment Tonight, The Insider, CNN, ABC News, Fox 11 News, and ELLE magazine among others.
